The Port Cafe: Breakfast & Tex-Mex

Looking for a hometown-feel diner where you can find all your usual breakfast favorites? The Port Cafe in Freeport, Texas, brings you all that and more! Being a little Southern and in Texas, you can expect to finds some great Mexican inspired breakfast items on their menu when you arrive.

The Food

First things first, you probably want to check out the menu to make sure your breakfast favorite is available, take a look at The Port Cafe’s menu by visiting their Facebook page here.

I ordered the chilaquiles that came with a chicken breast, it was good, but not the best chilaquiles I’ve had. Also, it does bring a little heat, so be prepared if you’re wanting to try it! Two of my sisters ordered omelet dishes. One ordered an omelet with basically a side of fajitas and the other ordered an omelet that basically had fajitas inside it! They were both excellent!

Their waffles were a bit dense, but also very filling and good (which is all that matters)! However, their over easy eggs did not pass the “dippy egg” test of my (now) 8-year-old nephew. You can read what eggs received his approval in Galveston, here!

Good for Large Parties?

I would not suggest The Port Cafe for larger parties, the space inside is very limited and our party of 10 took up a lot of space. However, on nice days they have their outside area available for dining! And if you’re wanting to try this place for lunch, they’re open until 1 p.m. on the weekends and 2 p.m. during the week.

Address: 831 W 2nd St, Freeport, TX 77541

Side note: I saw conflicting reports of their address where some put them in Freeport and some in Surfside. That could be a problem for people not familiar with the area. They are definitely in Freeport though!
