Willie G's Blackened Snapper Lafitte

Dinner at Willie G’s in Galveston

Atmosphere

Tropical Willie G's drinkWillie G’s Seafood & Steaks is a nicer restaurant, but one you can still wear shorts to. If you are searching for a finer dining option in Galveston and have exhausted the same list of restaurants (link with list coming soon) that I did, call Willie G’s! They have a good amount of dining space and have an outdoor seating area, as well. The only thing about sitting outside, in Texas, in the summer, is the… birds! Those pesky seagulls (or whatever they are) kept trying to get to a tray that had been set up to deliver food to a table. (Also, it’s Texas, so you’re likely to melt outside, as well.)

Our waitress (I’m so upset I can’t remember her name) was extremely good. She recognized one of my sisters wasn’t feeling well and after asking, she offered to bring a coffee right out. (She was having a caffeine headache!) Then, my youngest sister was rubbing her arms because she was cold and she brought out a chef jacket for her to wear! I felt like she just went above her duty and it genuinely seemed like it was in her nature and not that she was working extra hard for a tip.  Also, my dad loves to banter and she delivered. The food was wonderful, but it was her service that really made the dinner memorable.

Food

Willie G's Blackened Snapper LafitteWow! I ordered the Blackened Snapper Lafitte because I was really wanting snapper. And let me tell you, my dad was sure glad I did! It was a great portion size and not too spicy, but from the appetizer we ordered and the dessert coming up, I just couldn’t finish it. The snapper was topped with lumps of crab, shrimp and avocado.

Travel Tip #14: Order Willie G’s Blackened Snapper Lafitte

My dad stopped eating what he ordered to finish it off for me! Hands down, he would go back to Willie G’s just for that dish. Also, the mashed potatoes that come with it are great (the vegetables, not so)!

For dessert we ordered a Chocolate Eruption and Bread Pudding. Their bread pudding, like most bread puddings, was too “wet” for me. I’m very particular about the texture of foods that I like and eat. The chocolate cake was delicious, but I definitely would have needed a full glass of milk if I had been trying to eat it by myself.

Price

Finer dining brings higher pricing. Willie G’s was no exception, but the food was delicious and the service great. In my opinion, the snapper was well worth what was paid and I would order it again (as would my dad ?). Click here to see their menus and pricing to gauge their prices for yourself.
