When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Cookies and Web Beacons

We do use cookies to store information, such as personal preferences when you visit this site. This could include only showing you a pop up once in your visit or the ability to login to this site.

We also use third party advertisements on www.JacquelynMatthews.com to support our site. Some of these advertisers may use technology such as cookies and we beacons when they advertise on our site, which will also send these advertisers (such as Google through the Google AdSense program) information including your IP address, your ISP, the browsers you used to visit this site and, in some cases, whether you have Flash installed. This is generally used for geotargeting purposes, showing Houston apartment ads to someone in Houston, or showing certain ads based on specific sites visited, such as showing stock photography ads to someone who frequents Shutterstock-type sites.

You can chose to disable or selectively turn off our cookies or third party cookies in your browser settings or by managing preferences in programs, such as Norton Internet Security. However, this can effect how you interact with this site and other websites. This could include the inability to login to services or programs.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Sponsored Content

If a post is sponsored by a company, I will disclose this clearly in the beginning of the post. Any sponsored comment will still be accompanied by my unbiased opinion to bring you the most relevant and accurate information.

As for my social media pages where I use Amazon and any other affiliate links for product recommendations, I will include a link to this post, or put “(affiliate link)”, or #ad in the post.

FTC Disclosure

In 2015, the Federal Trade Commission released their new rules for Disclosure Compliance. These rules are set in place to ensure that readers or viewers of web media (blogs, Youtube videos, etc.) know if the blogger/presenter is sponsored, endorsed or partnered with a different company. In blog terms, the readers need to know if the blogger is making money by sharing a link or product.

In compliance with the FTC guidelines, please assume the following about links and posts on this site: Any/all of the links on www.JacquelynMatthews.com are affiliate links from which I receive a small compensation from sales of certain items.

What are affiliate links?

Purchases are made on external affiliate company websites: When a reader clicks on an affiliate link located on www.JacquelynMatthews.com to purchase an item, the reader buys the item from the seller directly (not from Jacquelyn Matthews, Texan Travels or Studio No.8, LLC). Amazon and/or other companies pay Studio No.8, LLC a small commission or other compensation for promoting their website or products through their affiliate program.

Prices are exactly the same for you if your purchase is through an affiliate link or a non-affiliate link. You will not pay more by clicking through to the link.

I use two main types of affiliate programs:

1. Amazon Affiliate Links

Jacquelyn Matthews (Studio No. 8, LLC) is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to amazon.com.

Amazon and the Amazon logo are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates.

2. Product Affiliate Links

These affiliate links work the same way. If you click the link and buy the product, then I will receive a percentage of the sale or some other type of compensation. Again, prices are not different if you use these affiliate links. You will not pay more by clicking through to the link.
