Things To Do In Verona, Italy: The Arena

Top 5 Things To Do in Verona, Italy

Planning a trip and looking for fun things to do in Verona, Italy? Well you’ve certainly picked a great location, so here’s a list of the top 5 things to do in Verona, Italy, to help flesh out your itinerary!

Things To Do in Verona, Italy: Casa di Giulietta

Casa di Giulietta

When we first arrived in Verona, we were desperate to find the places romanticized in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. When first trying to find Juliet’s house I was confused why “Giulietta” kept popping up, then I had a cappuccino and woke up. Casa di Giulietta is a can’t miss on the list of things to do in Verona, Italy! Juliet’s house is extremely popular, as seen in the above photo, but don’t let that deter you from getting your own photo with Juliet’s statue.

Things To Do in Verona, Italy: Get Some Luck in Love

Don’t let the other tourists shock you as they grope Juliet! They’re just trying to get some luck in love! “Legend” has it, that’s what touching her right breast will do for you. While you’re at it, be sure and leave your own letter to Juliet. My best friend and I both left our own love notes on the wall before departing.

The walk to Piazza delle Erbe

Piazza delle Erbe

Can you really visit Italy and not include shopping and eating on your list of things to do in Verona, Italy? The photo above isn’t from the historic city square, but from our walk to it where we passed tons of shops! I only took one photo from the square and sadly it’s at night and not really a great shot (below for your curiosity). And if you’re looking for a tried and true recommendation on a place to eat in or around Piazza delle Erbe, I suggest Impero – Pizzeria Trattoria Ristorante.

Things To Do In Verona, Italy: The Arena

Arena di Verona

Am I the only one that didn’t realize there was more than one colosseum? Of course, why wouldn’t there be, but still, I was so surprised to walk past the Verona’s coliseum, which is known as the Arena! The Arena is one of the most well preserved structures of its kind.

Travel Tip #23: Visit Verona in the Summer

This travel tip is solely dedicated to the fact that you can attend Operas inside the Arena! Who wouldn’t want a chance to see that kind of grandness in an ancient structure! Click here to visit their site, their first show for 2022 looks to be June 17.

Lake Garda

Lago di Garda

So Lake Garda isn’t technically in Verona, but I cannot recommend going to Lake Garda enough! I absolutely loved it! It’s only about a 30 minute drive from Verona, and you should definitely plan some time there. We only spent an afternoon around Lake Garda and we wished we could have stayed longer. Click here to read more on my trip to Lake Garda, suggestions on where to eat and some pictures to get you excited! Did I mention there’s a castle? I’ve included one below from my Instagram, but check out the rest of my photos to see more (click here for the first in the series)!

Where to Stay in Verona

Did you know there are more than 5,000 options on Hotels.com for places to stay in Verona? Simply click here to see them all. BUT, if you’re already feeling overwhelmed by the choices you haven’t even looked at yet, might I suggest staying at the Crowne Plaza Verona Fiera.

The Crowne Plaza in Verona offers free outside parking, as well as garage parking. Their staff was very pleasant and the hotel was super modern! Click here to view the hotel page on Hotels.com.

If you wanting to try something a little more authentic, check out the listings on VRBO. I wished I would have looked into staying at a winery, but hey! Next time! Click here to go to Verona’s landing page on VRBO.
